Manthoka Waterfall  also spelled Manthokha  is one of the most breathtaking natural attractions in Gilgit‑Baltistan, nestled in the Kharmang Valley of Skardu District in northern Pakistan. Towering at approximately 180 feet (55 m), this cascading waterfall draws both local and international tourists with its dramatic beauty, lush surroundings, and refreshing ambiance.

Situated roughly 75–80 km from Skardu City, Manthoka Waterfall is reached via the Skardu Kargil Road, winding through villages like Hussainabad, Thorgo, Parkutta, and Ghasing before arriving at Manthoka village. The final stretch to the waterfall involves a short drive along the Manthoka Madhupur track, leading visitors to an unforgettable natural spectacle.

The waterfall is set against a stunning backdrop of rugged Karakoram mountains, verdant pastures, and clear mountain streams. In the warmer months, the contrast of emerald grass and white cascading water creates a picture‑perfect setting for photography, picnics, and hikes.

The summer months (May–September) are considered ideal for a visit, as snowmelt increases the waterfall’s flow and the surrounding valley becomes lush and accessible. In winter, the region is often snowbound, and while the frozen landscapes can be equally striking, access may be more difficult. 

Accessibility & Travel Tips

Manthoka Waterfall is reachable by car or jeep from Skardu, and local drivers familiar with the mountain roads can be very helpful. Roads are generally more navigable during dry, warmer seasons. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, carry water, and prepare for some light hiking to reach the best viewpoints.
